What Data We Collect

• Headlines You Analyze: Stored locally in your browser only (IndexedDB). Never sent to our servers.
• Analytics Data: We use Ahrefs Analytics to collect anonymous usage data (page views, browser type, general location). This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
• AI Features (Optional): If you use AI-powered suggestions, your headline is sent to our AI provider (Vercel AI Gateway) for processing. This data is processed securely and not stored by the AI provider.

What Data We Don't Collect

• No user accounts or registration required
• No email addresses or personal information
• No cookies for tracking (only essential cookies for functionality)
• No third-party advertising networks
• No sale of user data

How Your Data is Processed

Client-Side Processing

All headline analysis happens in your browser using JavaScript libraries. Your headlines are analyzed locally using NLP (Natural Language Processing) algorithms, sentiment analysis, and readability scoring - all without sending data to our servers.

Local Storage

When you save headlines to history, they are stored in your browser's IndexedDB. This data:

• Stays on your device
• Is never uploaded to our servers
• Can be cleared at any time through your browser settings
• Is only accessible by you

AI-Powered Features

When you request AI-generated headline suggestions:

• Your headline is sent to Vercel AI Gateway for processing
• The AI generates suggestions based on your headline
• No personal data is included in the request
• The AI provider does not store your headlines long-term
• This feature is entirely optional - you can use HeadlineForge without AI

Third-Party Services

Ahrefs Analytics

We use Ahrefs Analytics to understand how our service is used. Ahrefs collects:

• Page views and navigation patterns
• Browser and device information
• General geographic location (country/region level)
• Referral sources

Ahrefs Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or track users across websites.

Vercel AI Gateway

For AI-powered features, we use Vercel AI Gateway to connect to AI models. When you use AI suggestions:

• Your headline text is sent for processing
• Processing happens in real-time
• Data is not retained after processing
• No personal information is included

Your Rights & Control

You have full control over your data:

• Clear History: Delete all saved headlines from your browser's IndexedDB at any time
• Opt Out of Analytics: Use browser privacy settings or ad blockers to prevent analytics tracking
• Avoid AI Features: Use the core analyzer without AI suggestions if you prefer
• Export Your Data: Export your headline history to CSV format anytime

Data Security

We take data security seriously:

• All connections are encrypted with HTTPS
• No server-side storage of user content
• No user accounts means no password breaches
• Client-side processing reduces attack surface
• Regular security updates to dependencies
